During its official opening, the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) in Cape Town is set to host the awards ceremony, the first of its kind; a dedicated Pan Africa architecture awards programme.

Launched by Saint-Gobain Sub-Saharan Africa, the African Architecture Awards aim to recognise and reward architectural projects from across the African continent. It is the first such programme to invite entries from across Africa, for any project that pertains to Africa, regardless of where the architectural firm is located. The awards are in essence an opening to a rich dialogue around sustainability, identity and the future of African architecture in its growing cities.

The MOCAA is a new public non-profit cultural institution focused on being the first major museum in Africa, and a leading museum in the world. Dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, it aims to enrich and inspire the public through outreach programmes, academic support and supplementary tuition.
