In South Africa, Saint-Gobain provides a unique solution called Combi-Pack – a ceiling and insulation kit for moderately priced South African homes. Combi-Pack, a solution tailored to the issues of sustainable construction The South African government has announced its intention to create 1.5 million dwellings by 2019. Of the 300 000 dwellings planned for completion each year 90 000 are expected to measure between 40 and 45 square metres and to be equipped with ceilings and insulation. This is in compliance with the energy efficiency regulations in force since April 2011. Combi-Pack is the response to this of the Saint-Gobain Gyproc and Saint-Gobain Isover brands in South Africa. Designed for 40 square metre homes, the Combi-Pack appeals to both the government and contractors because it is an all-in-one product offering, combining systems and products. As a result, only one supplier is involved and material sourcing and logistics are simplified. Between 2015 and the end of 2016, this system was used in 7 000 housing units in Gauteng alone. Rollout to other provinces began towards the end of 2016.
