Building Nigeria with Local Innovation and Growth
Since entering the Nigerian market in 2017, Saint-Gobain has made significant contributions to the West African country's architecture and construction sectors by offering innovative solutions and high-quality products.
When Saint-Gobain first launched in Nigeria, our then West Africa Regional Director, Westtar Kapito, told Business Day Nigeria: “Our products are reliably made with the finest raw materials you can get anywhere in the world, and they can indeed stand the test of time. We are here in Nigeria to replicate what we have achieved in other markets.”
Here to Collaborate
Since then, Saint-Gobain has actively engaged with local architects, civil engineers, and major distributors to showcase our innovative products and techniques while collaborating on various projects.
This commitment is evident in our participation in key industry events such as Big 5 Construct Nigeria, where Saint-Gobain has been a prominent exhibitor, highlighting a range of sustainable construction solutions.
Saint-Gobain was also instrumental in the design and installation of Gyproc drywall systems, flooring solutions, and insulation materials for the De-Renaissance Hotel in Lagos.
Local Production and Expanding Portfolio
In June 2023, Saint-Gobain Nigeria achieved a major milestone by starting local production of Weber tile adhesives in Nigeria. This move not only reinforces our commitment to the Nigerian market but also ensures that customers have access to high-quality, locally produced building solutions.
Looking ahead, Saint-Gobain Nigeria will continue to expand its product portfolio. Customers should be on the lookout for our next exciting addition: Weber tile grout, which will soon be manufactured locally. This aligns with our long-term goal of meeting the specific needs of the Nigerian construction sector with durable and efficient products.
Innovative Products and Solutions
Saint-Gobain’s product offerings in Nigeria include a wide range of construction materials, from plasterboards and gypsum boards to insulation solutions and mortar-based products. These are tailored to meet the Nigerian market's demands for durability, efficiency, and sustainability. For example, our moisture-resistant boards are ideal for wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens, while our firestop boards are perfect for corridor walls and bedrooms, demonstrating a commitment to both safety and performance.
Community Engagement and Training
Beyond providing top-tier products, Saint-Gobain is also deeply invested in community engagement and workforce development. We’ve conducted workshops and training sessions with local professionals, such as the Association of Tilers Nigeria, to educate them on the latest construction techniques and product innovations. These initiatives not only promote sustainable building practices but also help to enhance the skills of local workers, contributing to the growth of the construction industry.
Saint-Gobain Nigeria: Here to Stay
By working closely with Nigeria’s construction professionals, Saint-Gobain is committed to providing an extensive range of high-quality products and building long-term partnerships. Our focus on community engagement and sustainable development ensures that we remain an integral part of Nigeria’s growing construction sector.
As Nigeria continues to develop, Saint-Gobain will be there to shape a more sustainable and efficient built environment, offering local solutions to meet the country's evolving needs.
