Grace Nankobela, a junior plant controller, says she applied for her job at Saint-Gobain South Africa because it is a multinational company that offers many avenues for personal and career growth.

Grace’s ambitions match those of many of the young professionals we have working at Saint-Gobain, because of the opportunities for personal growth.

“We learn more and we grow more when we are on the edge of our comfort zone,” says Grace.” If you are facing challenges, embrace them. Turn challenges into opportunities.”

There are many chances, at Saint-Gobain, to turn challenges into opportunities. After all, we have more than 170 000 employees in 70 countries across the globe, all focused on making the world a better home for all – human and animal – who live in it. Just in Africa, Saint-Gobain is in 16 countries, employing just more than 1 600 people.

Our employees are encouraged to apply for new positions, locally and internationally, that will lead to personal and professional growth.

Andile Kwetetse, a product manager in South Africa, began work at Saint-Gobain through our graduate programme.

“People were very supportive of me in my growth,” says Andile, adding that he was able, during his first months at Saint-Gobain South Africa, to collaborate with a number of different teams.

This supportive atmosphere is mentioned by our employees over and over again as one of the many reasons they love working at Saint-Gobain. It has helped Princess Mathema, a human resources administrator at Saint-Gobain South Africa.

“I’ve learnt more about myself [working at Saint-Gobain]. I had to come out of my shell and do things I didn’t know I was capable of,” she says.

When we spoke to employees about why they enjoy working at Saint-Gobain, they also mentioned their pride in the projects they had helped to bring to life, and that they appreciate the wide variety of work that is done at Saint-Gobain because it keeps things interesting.

Part of our employer promise at Saint-Gobain is that with us you will find the space to let your unique personality and our values guide you towards inventing a more sustainable world, along with the Saint-Gobain global team. Our focus is always on providing the world with high-performing, light and sustainable construction materials that improve daily life and offer a lot of variety.

To do that, we need real skills and real commitment from our employees.

Mulalo Mukwevho, a junior supply chain assistant at Saint-Gobain South Africa, says she found her colleagues very accepting of her, which made it easier to settle into working with them.

Acceptance of each unique personality is a driving force at the Saint-Gobain group, where we believe that diversity is our strength. It’s one of the reasons why we encourage our staff to take advantage of the opportunities we offer for movement within the company, and across our various country offices.

Innovate, innovate, innovate

At Saint-Gobain, innovation is the name of the game. Our staff have the opportunity to work with people who are always improving on our technical products, and they always know that our innovators are working towards making the world a better home by developing sustainable products and solutions.

We encourage all our employees to work towards having a positive impact on the world, in their local community and globally, through our products and services – and with our worldwide presence, they really can do that.

Innovation for sustainability, global and local impact, team inclusivity and shared trust are the four cornerstones of our promise to all our employees.
